Jai Bhim is one of the most talked about movies. The movie garnered positive feedback post its release. Suriya’s role in the movie based on the real life lawyer Justice K Chandru is being celebrated at present. As much as the movie is being showered with appreciation, it also faced backlash for a scene featuring Prakash Raj. He slapped a pawnbroker in the movie for speaking in Hindi and not in Tamil. The actor recently spoke up during an interview with News 9 on the impending issue.

Highlighting the controversy around the slapping scene, the actor mentioned that the social media audience who spewed hatred on the scene failed to see the major issue in Jai Bhim, which is the cause of tribal people and the injustice that has been happening to them. He feels that issues like these have to be brought out to the public and have to be documented. He even talked about his police officer character who is investigating the pawnbroker. “How else will a police officer who is investigating a case react when he knows that a person who knows the local language chooses to speak in Hindi to dodge questioning?,” mentioned Prakash Raj. He justified his character by saying that if that scene came across more intense than expected, it is because he also stands by his character’s thoughts.

He went on to say that the bigger perspective had to be seen here, which is the pain and injustice of tribal people.
