Jai Bhim: Makers alter communal symbol in scene to avoid hurting sentiments

Jai Bhim, starring Suriya, takes a stand for the oppressed and voices against caste-discrimination

The recently released courtroom drama Jai Bhim has ignited a bit of a controversy as one of its shots portrayed a calendar with a communal symbol on it.

According to Cinema Express, the makers have now digitally altered the shot to avoid hurting any religious sentiments.

Helmed by T J Gnanavel, the Suirya-starrer premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 2.

Jai Bhim takes a stand for the oppressed and voices against caste discrimination, which features Suriya in the role of a real-life lawyer Chandru. The lawyer is known for fighting cases for oppressed communities, without charging any money.

The movie was widely acclaimed and praised immediately after its release. But over the weekend, the calendar shot has become the topic of discussion on the internet as it showcased a communal symbol, which could possibly hurt many sentiments. As soon as the makers got notice of it, they replaced the same with a picture of Goddess Lakshmi according to reports.

However, Jai Bhim still continues to earn applause for the brave narrative for the rights of the voiceless. Suirya’s performance as advocate Chandru has grabbed spotlights. In many interviews, the actor has already spoken about how proud he was to present the story.

In an earlier interaction with IANS, The actor has said the movie is one of the most challenging ones of his entire career. He also said the role was a responsibility that he took to create an intense impact on everyone, in which he has succeeded now.

Meanwhile, the movie is also produced by Suriya and his wife Jyothika under the production banner of 2D Entertainment. It also has Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj and Rao Ramesh in vital roles.

Penned by director T J Gnanavel himself, the cinematography is handled by S R Kathir, while the music is by Sean Roldan.
