Jagame Thandhiram: GoT actor James Cosmo wanted to do a dance sequence in Dhanush-starrer

The Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch just wants to dance! Scottish actor James Cosmo, who is noted for his role as Jeor Mormont in Game of Thrones, had a request to Karthik Subbaraj, who directed him in Jagame Thandhiram – to feature his character in a dance sequence in the Dhanush-starrer, which will be streaming on Netflix from June 18.

Karthik revealed this during a two-hour virtual interaction session with the media and fans on June 17. The Petta filmmaker said that Cosmo, who plays a gangster in the Tamil film, said, “Indian cinema is known for its songs in movies and James Cosmo, who was fascinated by that, had been looking forward to doing a song featuring his character. He was very excited after hearing that Jagame Thandhiram was an Indian film.”

The director, though, had to tell him that though the movie had its fair share of songs and dance numbers, it won’t have any featuring Cosmo’s character. This apparently left the actor disappointed.

Jagame Thandhiram is an action-thriller set in Tamil Nadu and the UK. The movie revolves around three gangsters played by Dhanush, Cosmo and Joju George, who is making his Kollywood debut with the film. Dhanush plays Suruli, who is hired by a gangster but soon faces moral dilemmas.

Immigration is another subject that the movie handles. Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi, who plays a Sri Lankan Tamil singer in the movie, plays the female lead. The movie is set to release globally in 17 languages at 12.30pm on June 18 on Netflix.
