The film is Santosh’s return to Malayalam cinema and has Kalidas Jayaram, Soubin and the late Nedumudi Venu, among others, on its cast.
Earlier today, the teaser of Manju Warrier’s upcoming Jack n Jill was released. The film, a comedy with loads of action, is slated to release in theatres on May 20, in the run up to which an action-packed yet fun teaser was unveiled. The teaser, all of 35 seconds, explains how XX chromosomes – women – are any day better than XY chromosomes (men), because they not only exude a certain charisma, but also have a natural inquisitive bent of mind.
According to reports, Santhosh’s film is a sci-fi comedy with ample doses of action too, with the actress being a part of a fair share of it. In earlier conversations with the media, Santhosh has been quoted as saying that he was looking forward to collaborating with Manju on a unique subject and when the story of Jack n Jill popped up, he ran it by a few friends, who also thought it would be apt for her. In the film, Manju plays a woman on whom a science experiment is conducted and the narrative follows the aftermath of it. The film, which was ready for release way back in 2020, had been held back to ensure a theatrical release, as Santosh was not keen on taking it directly to OTT.
Jack n Jill is produced by Gokulam Gopalan, Santosh Sivan, and M Prashant Das and has the late Nedumudi Venu, Soubin Shahir, Indrans, Minnal Murali maker Basil Joseph, Kalidas Jayaram, Aju Varghese, Sethulakshmi, Shaily Kishan and Esther Anil on its cast. The film, the first look of which was revealed by Mohanlal earlier, has music by Gopi Sundar, Jakes Bejoy and Ram Surendran.
Jack n Jill has Santosh filling in as cinematographer as well. He had earlier produced the 2017 Malayalam film The Great Father, while the 2011 Urumi was his last directorial in Mollywood.
