Jaaved Jaaferi wants a web series on Dhamaal's Adi-Manav; approached Indra Kumar for the same

Jaaved Jaaferi, currently seen as the lead antagonist in Bhuvan Bam’s Taaza Khabar 2, wants a comeback for Dhamaal’s Adi-Manav. The actor revealed that he has been discussing a series based on the two characters. Aditya aka Adi was played by Arshad, while Jaaved took on the role of his younger brother, Manav. The latter became iconic in Dhamaal, but also because of the chemistry between the brothers. Jaaved approached director Indra Kumar to make a web series on the characters. During their conversation on IMDb, Bhuvan asked Jaaved if he wished to have a spin-off show based on any of his characters. To that, Jaaved Jaaferi recalled his iconic characters from Salaam Namaste, Dhamaal, and Singh Is Kinng. He recalled Crocodile Danda from Salaam Namaste but added that he wants a spin-off series on Dhamaal's Adi-Manav played by Arshad Warsi and himself. "Maine toh Indu ji (Indra Kumar) ko kaha ki Adi-Manav ko lekar series banao," he recalled talking to the director. Jaaved wishes to see them in a proper web series.

Adi-Manav, the brothers with contrasting personalities in Dhamaal

Adi and Manav are two brothers who are opposites in their thought process. As much as Adi is greedy and cunning, Manav is innocent and the scapegoat for Adi.

Adi and Manav were a part of many iconic scenes in Dhamaal but here's recalling a few of them -

1) The car scenes

Manav sees a car, and Adi forces the man to give them a lift. They get a lift, but the car, driven by a Bengali man, is antique, broken to pieces, and it refuses to start. Pissed, Adi gets out of the car, which suddenly stops. In frustration, Adi kicks the car, which kickstarts the engine at last. Adi transforms into his nice guy image again and asks for a lift, only for the man to smirk and set off without them.

They end up in another car. Trying to strike up a conversation, Manav makes the biggest mistake of his life - he asks the man his name. Mr. Iyer's name goes on for hours at an end, frustrating the already impatient Adi.

2) The bike scene

The brothers eventually end up behind a tractor when Adi spots a bike in a dhaba. He sees a man in a blue jacket come out and beat him to a pulp to get the keys to the bike. Unfortunately, the man cannot give him the keys to the bike because it does not belong to him. The bike belongs to a Marathi man in a white kurta, who observes the fight and then zooms off on his bike. Thus, Adi sets the captured man free. While Adi fights with Manav, the same guy in the blue jacket flaunts his racer car and laughs at them. Manav, on noticing the car, keeps screaming for Adi. Taking his frustration out on Manav, Adi states that his younger brother could have said, "Gaadi, gaadi," instead of "Adi, Adi." Obviously, this called for Manav's tears and the dialogue, "I'm not so smart na."

Dhamaal has been turned into a franchise, but the magic of the original remains. The film can be streamed on ShemarooMe, Zee5, Prime Video and Netflix.
