Jaaved Jaaferi teases his return as Hindi commentator on Takeshi's Castle reboot

Tokyo Broadcasting System Television announced the reboot in March and said that it will be "bigger in scale that would not be possible on terrestrial TV, at substantial costs we plan to shoulder."

Amazon Prime Video will soon air a reboot of the popular Japanese variety show Takeshi's Castle which comes from Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS). And Jaaved Jaaferi who added comedic flair to the already hilarious show with his Hindi commentary might just return as host.

Recently, Jaaferi excited long-term fans of the game show with a tweet where he hinted at his comeback. "Hmmmm!!! Kya khayaal? (What say?)," he wrote.

Japan Today writes that the Takeshi's Castle reboot will be launched by the streamer with a new name and the production is set to begin soon. The report states that it will be called Fukkatsu! Fuun! Takeshi-jo (translates to the Return of Takeshi's Castle).

TBS announced the reboot in March and said that it will be "bigger in scale that would not be possible on terrestrial TV, at substantial costs we plan to shoulder."

The original show ran from 1986 and 1989 and featured Japanese comedian and actor Takeshi Kitano, known by his stage name Beat Takeshi, as a count who owns a castle and gives contestants physically challenging tasks.

The show not only gained cult status in Japan but was popular in the United States, India, Britain as well as many Asian and South American countries. Takeshi's Castle was aired in India on the children's channel Pogo TV.

Meanwhile, Jaaferi was last seen on screen in Bhoot Police and Sooryavanshi.
