The date has been fixed to allow the film a clean 2-3 window at the box office without potential clashes with other biggies.
Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is, undoubtedly, one of the most expected films of the year. Directed by Atlee, best known for films like Theri, Mersal and Bigil, among others, the film has Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi on board, while Sanya Malhotra and Priya Mani are also rumoured to be on the cast. The film’s release date has been one of the most widely discussed topics and earlier this week, it was thought that August 25 would be the best window.
But then, came reports that a September release is what Shah Rukh preferred and a mid-month date was speculated. Turns out, it’s not that – the team has zeroed in on September 7 as the day that audiences will get to see the film. This gives them a clean three week window before Prabhas’ much-anticipated pan-India release Salaar, directed by KGF maker Prashant Neel hits screens on April 28.
A source was quoted by an online publication as saying that Shah Rukh was looking for a clean window between other big-ticket releases for his films, so as to avoid box office clashes and allow each one enough breathing space at the box office. Interestingly, in the last several days, there were multiple dates rumoured to be front-runners, starting with June 2, an end of June date, August 25 and mid-September too.
Such is the craze surrounding the film that its OTT rights had sparked a massive bidding race among major platforms, with Netflix reportedly snagging it for a staggering Rs 250 crore. The satellite rights went to Zee Network. The film will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, as per the latest poster.
The actor, who made a much talked about return to the big screen with the blockbuster Pathaan earlier this year, will next be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki.
