Vettaiyan is one of the most expected Tamil films which is in the making. While the Rajinikanth-starrer is under production, with the shoot happening at a brisk pace, the makers on Sunday dropped a huge and exciting announcement. The film is all set to hit big screens in October. The makers are aiming to release during the Navratri holidays.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame, Vettaiyan stars Rajinikanth in the lead role. The actor is said to play the role of a cop in the upcoming action drama. Vettaiyan is backed by Lyca Productions banner and is expected to release in October. The makers are expected to announce the exact date nearer to the release.

Vettaiyan boasts a star ensemble cast with actors coming from different film industries. The film will have Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan in prominent roles. It is to be noted that Vettaiyan is the onscreen reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan after a hiatus of over 30 years. The last time these two Indian cinema legends shared the screen was in Hum (1991), and before that, in Geraftaar.
The film will have score by composer Anirudh Ravichander with SR Kathir cranking the camera. Philomin Raj is the editor with AnbAriv duo in charge of stunts.
After Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth will collaborate with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for Thalaivar 171. The title of the film is said to be revealed on August 22. Bankrolled by Sun Pictures, it will mark the first time Lokesh is working with Rajinikanth. This film too will have music scored by Anirudh Ravichander.

Meanwhile, the actor was last seen in Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. While speculations are rife that a sequel is on the cards, an official announcement is yet to be made by the film's makers.
