The official announcement on the release date of the most anticipated Tamil film, Valimai, has finally come. The action thriller is hitting the screens on January 13. The film is Ajith's release after two-and-a-half year hiatus. His last outing was Nerkonda Paarvai (streaming on Zee5), which also had Vinoth and Boney Kapoor as its director and producer respectively.
The film has obtained U/A certificate from the Censor Board and its rune time will be around three hours. The makers had released its trailer the other day, which has clocked close to 20M views on YouTube in less than 24 hours
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for the film which has editing by Vijay Velukutty and cinematography by Nirav Shah. Huma Qureshi, Sumithra, Yogi Babu, Kartikeya, Gurbani Judge, GM Sundar and Achyuth Kumar among others play pivotal roles in the movie, the story of which, is based on a real life character.
Ajith plays Arjunan, a bike racer-turned-cop in the film which as Kartikeya playing the antagonist. The movie marks the latter's debut in Kollywood while this is the second outing of Huma in Tamil. Dhilip Subbarayan's action sequences are said to be the highlight of the project.
The film is carrying a never before seen humongous hype in Ajith's career. The star was last seen in a cop's role in Gautham Menon's Yennai Arindhaal (streaming on YouTube). This is Vinoth's fourth film after Sathuranga Vettai (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar), Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) and Nerkonda Paarvai.
The director is expected to join hands with Ajith and Boney soon after the release of Valimai. The makers have released two singles from the movie, which have been penned by Vignesh Shivan.
