Finally, the much-awaited news Tamil movie buffs have been eagerly waiting for is here. Valimai, starring Ajith, will hit the screens on February 24. The H Vinoth directorial, produced by Boney Kapoor under his banner Bay View Projects, was initially slated for a release on January 26.
The makers had to drop the plan owing to the various restrictions imposed by the government after the country witnessed a surge in the number of COVID cases. Many Tamil films had announced their theatrical releases in the last few days after the government lifted many of the restrictions.
Boney himself took to his Twitter page to announce the most anticipated news. He tweeted, "Actions speak louder than words. The wait is well & truly over. Feel the power on 24 Feb, in cinemas worldwide (sic)." Valimai is Ajith's release after two and a half years. His last outing was Nerkonda Paarvai (streaming on Zee5) which also had Vinoth and Boney as its director and producer respectively.
The announcement tweet from Boney also had a new still of Ajith attached to it. The movie will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada under the same title. The poster of the movie's Telugu version was unveiled by Vijay Deverakonda and Naga Chaitanya a month ago.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for the film which has Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya Gummakonda, Sumithra, Achyuth Kumar and Yogi Babu among others essaying pivotal roles. Nirav Shah has cranked the camera for the action flick which has editing by Vijay Velukutty.
Dhilip Subbarayan has choreographed action sequences for the movie which has art direction by K Kadhir. Zee Studios is co-producing the project along with Boney Kapoor. Valimai has Ajith playing a biker-turned-cop who takes on a few dreaded criminals.
