Written and directed by Anil Vishwanath, the film stars Satyam Rajesh, Dr Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Getup Srinu, Baladitya
Maa Oori Polimera was a low-budget rural thriller that arrived directly on Disney+ Hotstar in 2021 and was a surprise hit on OTT. It later won widespread acclaim for its tight screenplay and credible performances. Satyam Rajesh, Dr Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Getup Srinu, Baladitya played the lead roles in the film, written and directed by Dr Anil Vishwanath.
While the thriller ended on a cliffhanger in the first part, it left viewers incredibly curious about its sequel. The shoot of Maa Oori Polimera 2 commenced a few months ago in 2022 and on Saturday, the makers have officially confirmed that the filming is complete. The lead actors of the first part continue to play pivotal roles in the sequel as well, which promises to be more thrilling.
The first part revolved around three pivotal characters Komarayya, Balji and Jangayya, brothers residing in Jasthipalli. While Komarayya and Balji are married and ride an auto-rickshaw to fend for their family, Jangayya lands a job as a police constable. The sarpanch constantly ill-treats the women in their family and dies in a road accident. This event is also followed by the death of Komarayya and a pregnant woman Kavitha.
Ravi Varma, Chitram Sreenu, and Akshata Srinivas too play other important roles in the film produced by Gowr Kriesna under Shree Krishna Creations. Expectedly, the sequel was shot on a higher budget than the original and the makers are quite happy with the way the film has shaped up. Maa Oori Polimera 2 was shot across many scenic locations in Uttarakhand, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Khammam and Hyderabad.
With the shoot of the sequel coming to a close, the team has already commenced work on the post-production formalities. Gyani scores the music for the film while Vangala Kumaraswamy is the cinematographer. NC Satish Kumar is the executive producer for the project and Upendra Reddy Chanda is the art director. Anil Vishwanath has also written the dialogues for the film. It's not known if the film will arrive in theatres or directly on Disney+ Hotstar.
