Actor Karthi, who has performed a variety of roles in his career so far, has teamed up with director Prem Kumar of 96 fame for a film. Tentatively titled Karthi 27, the latest update is that the makers have wrapped up shooting for the film.

Karthi 27 also stars actor Arvind Swamy in a prominent role and is backed by Karthi's brother and actor Suriya along with Jyothika's home banner 2D Entertainment.

As per a DT Next report, Karthi shot his last portions on Thursday before going to Tiruchy to work with director Nalan Kumarasamy for his film Karthi 26. The details on the both the projects are kept under wraps for now. Besides Karthi and Arvind Swamy, Karthi 27 will also feature actors Sri Divya, Karunakaran, and Swati Konde in prominent roles and was shot in locations in Tamil Nadu, including Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, and other places.

It is also to be noted that Karthi 27 is shot in sync sound method and will be the actor's second outing in a similar fashion after Kaatru Veliyidai. For those uninitiated, sync sound is a process in which sound is recorded at the time of shooting, thus avoiding the process of dubbing at times. This enables filmmakers to capture actual and authentic sounds rather than recreate them in the post-production phase.

The film, which went on floors in November 2023, is touted to be a family drama. However, the makers have not yet revealed the actual title of the film. According to reports, the upcoming film is reportedly about two friends who become arch enemies. Sri Divya is expected to play Karthi's sister.

While an official announcement on the project details is yet to be made, the film is said to have been shot by cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan, with Govind Vasantha scoring the music.

Meanwhile, Karthi who was last seen in Japan, has Kaithi 2 with Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Sardar 2 with PS Mithran in the pipeline.
