Is Venom 4 Possible?

While this week we witnessed the release of Venom: The Last Dance which has been in the making for a long time, and there were countless rumors and speculations surrounding it, some questions about the franchise remain unanswered even after watching the film. The biggest highlight of Venom 3 was the fact that this was the swan song for both Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom, as the makers had clarified that this would be the final film in the trilogy and the last for both Eddie and Venom. This led to discussions about whether the franchise ends here or if there’s room for more standalone Symbiote stories within the Sony Spider-Man Universe. Some have even wondered if a Venom 4 is at all possible. It turns out that Kelly Marcel is now addressing that possibility in a new interview.

Is Venom 4 Possible?

Writer and director of Venom: The Last Dance Kelly Marcel, is, of course, being asked about the future of the characters in the film. According to Kelly’s latest revelation, Eddie and Venom have hit the big screen in a solo flick for the last time, and there are no plans or discussions for their future, as the decision to make this the last of the trilogy was made after careful consideration. However, there is room for more characters to continue the franchise. Read on to know everything you should about this.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter Kelly Marcel discussed whether Venom 4 is possible. She confirms that the contract has ended, and they were hired for three films, which are now complete. But she hopes that groundwork for the future has been laid with other characters and their Symbiotes, as well as the bad guys still present in the universe. "Yes, it is the end of a contract. We were asked to do three, we’ve delivered three, and who knows what the future holds," the filmmaker said.

"I hope that we’ve laid the groundwork for them in this third movie with other characters, other symbiotes, and bad guys that they can run with, should they choose. But this is the last one for Venom and Eddie," Marcel noted. "We have definitely given it forethought, so we definitely know what those stories could be, should they want them."

Was Marvel Studios Involved?

Sony makes Spider-Man movies in association with Marvel Studios and in sync with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Naturally, there was chatter about whether Marvel had any say in how Venom: The Last Dance would shape up, especially since the film picks up where Spider-Man: No Way Home ends. Kelly Marcel clarified, "They weren't [involved] because, where we find ourselves in the MCU, it's already something that we had shot," she said regarding Spider-Man: No Way Home's mid-credits scene. "Yeah, it already existed."
