Seema Biswas played the role of PM Basu in The Family Man 2.
A still from The Family Man 2.
After Srikant (Manoj Bajpayee), Rajji (Samantha Akkineni) and Chellam Sir (Uday Mahesh), fans of The Family Man 2 have now shifted their focus to Seema Biswas, who plays the role of PM Basu in the series.
Many people thought that there was some resemblance between Seema and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The biggest similarity is that they both are called ‘didi’ by people who respect them.
Seema reacted to the news during an interview with Bollywood Hungama and shunned the reports. She cleared that the character was not inspired by Mamata but her own self, since she too is a Bengali.
“To be very honest, no name was mentioned and I was not told that PM Basu is inspired by any real-life personality. As per the brief given to me, I just prepped and tried to understand what the body language of the character should be. So, mentally and physically, there was no reference to this character. I just thought that ‘Agar main Prime Minister hoti, toh main kaise behave karti’! Moreover, I am also a Bengali, just like PM Basu. So that made my job a bit easier,” the actress shared.
In the same interview, Seema shared that she took up the show because of how she felt about the first part. Thus, even though she just had cameo appearances, the actress was all up to be a part of the second season of The Family Man.
Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwantry, Darshan Kumaar and Sunny Hinduja have been part of the franchise since its first season. While a few of the characters make it to The Family Man 3, some others don’t.
