Is Parineeti Chopra no longer a part of Shiddat 2, opposite Sunny Kaushal? Here's what we know

It's being said that Wamiqa Gabbi is likely to replace Parineeti Chopra in the film.

The production company of Dinesh Vijan revealed its next 15-film slate on Tuesday, including sequels to Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), and Shiddat (2021), as well as new films like Murder Mubarak, Chhava, Happy Teachers' Day and the untitled Shahid Kapoor-Kriti Sanon romantic comedy. But apparently, there was a casting change for Shiddat 2 within hours of the announcement. Parineeti Chopra, the film's star, reportedly dropped out of the romantic drama in which Sunny Kaushal and she were to star.

According to Mid Day, this is just another case of accidentally mixed-up dates. A source has revealed to the tabloid that Karan Sharma's directorial attempt was set to begin in August. Filming has been pushed back to October or November due to technical issues. Parineeti is currently occupied in that very window, as she is working on two unnamed projects right now.

Following their May engagement, rumours have circulated that Parineeti and Aam Aadmi Party member Raghav Chadha will tie the knot at the end of October, with celebrations continuing into November. The source continued that the producers would have had to incur more fees owing to the change in dates and the wedding break. Both Parineeti and Dinesh agreed that it would be ideal to cast someone else in the film, so they made that decision.

Who, then, will play Kaushal's potential sweetheart in the next film? Wamiqa Gabbi, who impressed directors following Jubilee, is reportedly already in negotiations with the producer. The actor reportedly thought the script was great.

According to another reliable source, if the movie has to go on floors in October, the team is left with little time. A busy European schedule is in the works. In addition, it will take the styling team almost a month to finalise the leading lady's clothes and schedule her fittings. The contract has not been finalised because talks with Wamiqa only started this week.

Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, Shiddat the first instalment, focused on a young couple played by Kaushal and Radhika Madan and told the narrative of their passionate love.
