With barely a month remaining for Kiran Rao’s film Laapataa Ladies to hit the theatres, the filmmaker shared whether she is comfortable meeting Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Reena Dutta.

Despite being the ex-wives of the superstar Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta share a unique family dynamic. Aamir and Reena are parents to two children, Ira Khan and Junaid Khan, while Aamir and Kiran are parents to Azad Rao Khan. Despite the public perception of their comfort, Kiran Rao has addressed rumors about their family dynamics. She clarified that she is at ease meeting Reena and Aamir individually at any time of the day, dispelling any misconceptions surrounding their relationships.

Is Kiran Rao comfortable greeting Reena Dutta?

In a recent interview with The Week, Kiran said it is natural for people to be inclusive. “My family was also present at Ira’s wedding. It is something that we honestly didn't have to think about. We are a family. In fact, we have Monday night dinners where we all get together," she said.

She added that she along with Reena reside in the same housing society. Furthermore, Kiran said, “Aamir and I didn't have an acrimonious divorce; we may have parted as a couple, but we are very much a family."

About Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan’s first collaboration since separation

Laapataa Ladies – a theatrical film slated to be released on March 1, marks the first project between Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan since announcing their separation in 2021.

Starring Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Nitanshi Goel in lead roles, the narrative unfolds against the rural backdrop of India, depicting the intriguing tale of two young brides whose lives become intertwined through an unexpected exchange on a train.
