Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah were left in splits on being asked about the connection between Jalsa and Amitabh Bachchan.
Jalsa Shefali Shah and Vidya Balan's forthcoming film, is nearing its release date. Even though the film is an investigation thriller, several people assumed the title was a reference to actor Amitabh Bachchan's renowned home, Jalsa. Vidya Balan was amused by the question and prepared a witty response.
Shefali, who has worked with Amitabh Bachchan in films such as Waqt and Vidya, who has worked with him in Paa and Te3n, were questioned if they had discussed the film's title with him. Vidya remembered an amusing anecdote connected to the question after they both reacted with astonishment.
Shefali told Bollywood Hungama that she had read somewhere, while Vidya quipped that yes, it's a biopic of Mr. Bachchan's residence. To which she replied, "Are you kidding me?"
So when someone asked Vidya if her film was a biography of Mr. Bachchan's residence, she explained in Hindi, "Toh maine kaha uss sawaal ke jawab ke liye aapko pratiksha karni padegi." Vidya's response was a play on the name of Amitabh's second house, Pratiksha.
Vidya and Shefali both burst out laughing, with Shefali complimenting her co-star on the humor by saying, "That's a great one."
The Kahaani actor continued by saying, "How can it be a biopic of a house?" Shefali suggested that Vidya should have agreed with them that the movie is about Amitabh's house.
Amitabh Bachchan owns the Pratiksha home in Juhu, which he shared with his late parents, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. He currently resides in a house called Jalsa, which is also located in Juhu, with his family. In the same location, he owns a third property called Janak, which is primarily used for official functions.
Shefali founded a restaurant last year in Ahmedabad, which was followed by another in Bengaluru last month. According to the actor, Jalsa will also feature carnival games, astrologers, and henna artists, who added that it will stay "true to its name" by delivering a "quintessential Indian festivity."
Suresh Triveni's film Jalsa starring Shefali and Vidya, is about the murder of a little girl and the investigation by a news station. While Vidya plays a journalist investigating the issue, Shefali Shah plays the victim's mother, who refuses to give up on her daughter. On March 18, the film will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
