Grapevine has it that the makers of Dunki are planning to rope in GV Prakash Kumar, as the music composer. While we await official confirmation, we hear "talks are on" with the young Tamil actor-music director.
Prakash has scored the music for the Hindi films, including Joker and Ugly. Further, he has been roped in as the music director for the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru. If Prakash ends up as a part of Dunki, it will be the biggest opportunity to transform himself into a pan-Indian music composer.
Dunki, produced by Rajkumar Hirani Films and Red Chillies Entertainment, is slated to release on December 22, 2023. Also starring Taapsee Pannu, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Written by Hirani, Abhijat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon, this is the first time Shah Rukh Khan is featuring in a Rajkumar Hirani film.
While announcing the title on Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan stated that he is "extremely happy" to work with the PK director. "Rajkumar Hirani is one of the finest filmmakers of this generation. We have always spoken about working together. We are finally doing it with Dunki. We just started shooting this month and I am cherishing every moment of it," read Shah Rukh Khan's recent tweet.
Also, on a lighter note, he added, "For Raju (Hirani), I can become either donkey or monkey!"
Dunki went on floors this April with the next schedule being shot extensively in Punjab. Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, will next be seen in Yash Raj's Pathaan. And, Hirani's last directorial was Sanjay Dutt's biopic, Sanju.
In Tamil, GV Prakash has been confirmed as the music director of Vishal-starrer, Mark Antony. The film is directed by Adhik Ravichandran. Prakash headlined Adhik's directorial debut, the 2015 Trisha Illana Nayanthara. He had also composed music for the adult comedy.
GV Prakash was seen last in Selfie, which was released to a positive response, in theatres. Up next, he has Trap City and Seenu Ramasamy's Idi Muzhakkam, in his kitty.
