Dulquer Salmaan’s much-awaited Malayalam movie King of Kotha is all set to hit the theatres soon. However, going by the latest updates, the Abhilash Joshiy-directed gangster film might clash with Nivin Pauly’s Ramachandra Boss & Co which is also releasing in August. Producer Listin Stephen recently hinted that the team is planning an Onam release for Ramachandra Boss & Co, which is helmed by Haneef Adeni.

When asked about the release of his film, Listin jokingly remarked that the arrival of King of Kotha would pose a challenge to Ramachandra Boss & Co. He said this while attending the puja function for M Mohanan’s Oru Jathi Oru Jaathakam which marks the return of the Sreenivasan-Vineeth Sreenivasan combo after Aravindhante Athidhikal.

Ramachandra Boss & Co is a comedy film, and about 90% of it is shot in Dubai,” Listin said, speaking about the movie. Does he see it as Nivin’s comeback film? The actor has never really been away, replied the producer. Ramachandra Boss and Co is backed by Magic Frames and Pauly Jr. Pictures.

This project marks the reunion of Nivin and Haneef after the thriller Mikhael which didn’t perform so well at the box office. The movie also stars Jaffer Idukki, Vinay Forrt and Mamitha Baiju. Scripted by the director himself, Ramachandra Boss & Co has Vishnu Thandassery and Nishadh Yusuf handling camera work and editing respectively. Nivin recently shared the first-look poster of the film on social media with a note reading, “Lights:Camera:Heist!!!”.

Meanwhile, Dulquer’s King of Kotha is one of the biggest upcoming Malayalam releases. It’s said to be made on a budget of ₹50 crore, and has already bagged the highest digital rights deals in Mollywood. Meanwhile, the digital, satellite and music rights have also reportedly been sold for ₹40 crore, with Sony Music paying ₹5 crore for the audio rights.
