Is Chastity High similar to the K-Drama Hierarchy? Find out
Chastity High, like the name suggests, is a J-Drama based in a high school premise. The story has grounds similar to the uber-popular Spanish show Elite, but is it really Japan's answer to Elite? Let's dig further to find out...
Chastity High, again, like the name suggests, is about a high school that stresses upon the women keeping their chastity intact. No dating is allowed in this high school. Which, of course, means there's a lot of dating, and with it, Chastity High became the first Japanese young adult series from Netflix.
Chastity High, surprisingly (or not-so-much), is based on a true story. There is actually a school in Japan that put a ban on romance between the students (which led to them breaking the rules in the first place). This school was sued by the pupil for the restrictions it put on students.
More or less. There's crime, there are secrets, and there are ways to earn money. Although the concept of Elite was about the differences in class, with the upper class always being in power, Chastity High is about powerplay. It is divided in those who have secrets to spill and those who have secrets they can expose at any given time. So, Chastity High just takes a fraction of Elite, but is not like the very show.
Again, not really. The K-Drama Hierarchy was also about the difference in class. Yes, it had romance and revenge, which is very evident in Chastity High too, but the difference is, there's no division between rich and poor in Chastity High (unless you cannot pay to keep yourself hidden). Chastity High is about a Lovekeeper, who can help you keep your high school romance a secret, if you help the person out in return.
Starring Mikami Ai and Miyase Ryubi in the lead roles, Chastity High will be out on Netflix on August 29.
