Filmmaker Harikrishna had described the film as akshara Kranti, leading to speculation that after tackling the oil mafia in Yajamana, the team could be exploring issues in the education system.
Kannada cinema’s Challenging Star has begun shooting for his 55th film, Kranti, which is being directed by composer-turned-director V Harikrishna and produced by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha under their Studio Media House banner. The film, which got off to an auspicious start on Vijayadashami, which, incidentally is also the day chosen for new beginnings, especially with regard to education, where children are introduced to their first alphabets, has been described by director Harikrishna as ‘akshara kranti’, where akshara means alphabets and kranti is revolution. In fact, the film’s concept poster also featured Darshan’s face with alphabets all over him, in red, with the tagline, ‘Learn to fight alone’. Could this film, then, be about issues plaguing the education system?
In a conversation with a daily, Darshan said that while he was happy to be back on set after a break of nearly two years, all he would say about the film is that it has a novel subject, which the team is looking at presenting in the most entertaining fashion. “The artiste in me always aims to entertain the audience to the fullest. While I make sure to fulfill the audience’s wish to see me portraying different characters, I also make sure the subject we present is underlined with strong morals. And with Kranti, we will entertain as well as educate,” he was quoted as saying. Kranti, meanwhile, reunites the actor with his Bulbul and Ambareesha co-star Rachita Ram.
On the day of the muhurtha, Darshan had regaled his fans with a video about a day in the life of the actor, capturing pivotal moments from his routine, starting with his two-hour workout at 5 am, which he has resumed only now, after a long break. The actor also gave fans a peek into his diet, interactions with friends, etc.
