Aamir Khan, who has been waiting to release his film Laal Singh Chaddha for a long time, might reportedly be planning to host a special screening for the movie for actor Tom Hanks. For the uninitiated, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks’ iconic movie Forrest Gump. The movie is set in Punjab and Aamir reprises the role of Gump for the Indian version.
A little birdie told India Today that Aamir might be planning to host a special screening for Tom in the US, closer to Laal Singh Chaddha’s release. It is still unclear whether Aamir would personally travel to the US to attend the screening or simply host a show there for Tom to attend.
Nonetheless, the news cannot be confirmed since 2022 has also welcomed a new variant of COVID-19 in Omicron, which has led to restricted travel access across India. While Maharashtra is not completely under effect yet, many other cities have been affected due to the rising cases.
Laal Singh Chaddha, featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan as the female lead, was slated to release on Christmas in 2020. However, owing to the COVID-19 lockdown, the movie’s release had to be delayed to April 14, 2022. There is still certain uncertainty whether Laal Singh Chaddha will be able to keep up to its promised release date and come to theatres. While the makers are not keen to release the movie directly on OTT, they are waiting to see how the situation turns out, hoping there is no third wave in India.
Directed by Secret Superstar helmer Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Mona Singh and South Indian star Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles. The movie marks Naga’s debut in Bollywood.
