Iratta, which marks Joju George’s first double role, also has Anjali as part of the cast
Malayalam actor Joju George, who won widespread acclaim for his role as a conflicted police officer in Martin Prakkat’s police thriller Nayattu, will be seen donning the khaki and boots again in debutant Rohit MG Krishnan’s film titled Iratta.
While we know that Joju plays a double role as twins in the movie, OTTplay has exclusively learnt from a source from that team that both the characters in Iratta are police officers. Initially, the first look poster as well as the trailer had revealed only character as a cop, but a source from the team tells us, “Both the characters are police officers and the movie deals with the tumultuous relationship between the duo.”
Rohit, meanwhile, in an earlier interview with us had confirmed that the film is a police story and has several twists. Apart from Joju, Tamil actress Anjali, Srinda, Arya Salim, Sreekanth Murali, Sabumon Abdusamad, Sarath Sabha and Abhiram will also be seen in pivotal roles in the film, which is scripted by Rohit and produced by Nayattu director Martin Prakkat, Joju and Sijo Vadakkan.
Rohit had previously helmed a few short films and had begun scripting Iratta in 2017. Back then director Sajid Yahiya was attached to produce the movie, but the pandemic disrupted the plans and that’s when Joju along with the others decided to bankroll the project, which is currently scheduled to hit theatres on February 3 along with Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George’s Vedikettu, Anu Sithara’s Momo in Dubai and Soubin Shahir’s horror-comedy Romancham.
The trailer of Iratta, which was released last week, hinted at how the problems between the two estranged brothers also begin to have far-reaching consequences in the lives of those near and dear to them as well as those they work with. The ego clash between the twin characters essayed by Joju seem to be highlight of the movie, which has music by Jakes Bejoy.
