The youngster is Golden Star Ganesh's son and plays his father's younger version in the Suni directorial.
Sometime ago, the team of Golden Star Ganesh’s Sakath had revealed that the actor’s son Vihaan would play a younger version of his character Balu. Earlier today, we finally got a glimpse of the youngster in character, and boy, is he a natural. Vihaan, who looks a lot like his star father, sets the tone for the character of Balu, in the teaser that was released. Balu, as it turns out, was an aspiring musician from a young age. How and where his journey in the pursuit of music takes him forms the rest of the narrative.
Sakath, meanwhile, is Ganesh’s second film with director Suni, after their previous collaboration, Chamak. The filmmaker and the actor have both been quoted as saying that the film follows the escapades of a reality show participant, who, as it turns out, is a visually-challenged singer.
In recent days, though, they’ve also revealed that the film is a courtroom drama, with Ganesh’s Balu a witness. How does a visually-challenged person become a witness in a trial? That’s the pertinent question here, but then, of course, Balu isn’t actually visually-challenged and only pretending to be so, as is evident from the teaser of his character and the song, Premakke Kannilla.
In the teaser also, Ganesh does and says stuff that has those around him wondering if he can see, only to have him explain his way out of the situation; like, for instance, when he presses the lift button, which does not have braille on it, with ease, and says that it he’s been doing it so long, it’s become habit. But the give-away comes towards the end, when Ganesh, as Balu, is shown watching movies that had visually-challenged protagonists, namely Shivarajkumar in Kavacha and Ayushmann Khurranna in Andhadhun. Why he pulls off this charade and how he manages to convince people of his disability and reliability as a witness is what remains to be seen when the film opens in theatres.
Sakath gives Ganesh two heroines – Surbhi Puranik, who makes her Kannada film debut with this film, and Nishvika Naidu. Surbhi plays a reality TV show host, while Nishvika is a visually-challenged teacher. The film has music by Judah Sandhy.
