India has a historic connection with yoga, and it is practiced by millions of Indians around the globe. Among the many celebrities who also start their day by doing yoga, is Shilpa Shetty Kundra. The actor, who often shares glimpses of her yoga workout for the body and mind, has now stated that she lives by the principles of yoga on International Yoga Day.

As reported by Hindustan Times, Shilpa Shetty says that nothing is better than starting a day with yoga and that everyone should start practising the form of exercise as it helps in changing the physical and mental wellbeing of an individual.

“My tryst with yoga began with an ailment [many years ago] and now I live with the principles of yoga. It’s a science I believe in, as it aligns your mind, body and soul. I don’t want people to celebrate yoga only on one day, June 21 (International Day of Yoga),” she said.

The actor adds that yoga should be celebrated daily because it belongs to India and that it is a science that has brought a lot of development across the globe. She further states that yoga helps in balancing life, burning one’s calories and offering a great workout.

Shilpa, who can pull off yoga asanas such as Vrikshasana, Virabhadrasana and Natrajasana, often takes to social media to share photos and videos of her yoga workout, inspiring her fans, who are health buffs.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who made her Bollywood debut in 1993 with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Baazigar, is most recently seen in Nikamma. Co-starring Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia, the movie is directed by Sabbir Khan. The action comedy is now available in theatres near you.
