Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj , who turned 38 today, is poised to embark on a new chapter in his thriving career. He is set to make his debut as an actor in a production, as you may have guessed, by Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International.

On the occasion of his birthday, the production house introduced the title of the music video that it is bankrolling. The song has been titled Inimel, which translates to "from now on." The poster also claims that the song is "Introducing Lokesh Kanagaraj."

Well, if you haven't heard about Lokesh Kanagaraj in the last seven years, you must have been living under a rock. Especially in the last two years, he has become a force to reckon with in the Indian film industry. So much so that he is a very suitable candidate to feature in the Indian version of David Letterman's show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. In other words, Lokesh Kanagaraj doesn't need an introduction.

In that case, "Introducing Lokesh Kanagaraj" doesn't make sense. Unless the producers are implying that Inimel marks a new phase in his career. It's safe to assume that in Inimel, the director Lokesh Kanagaraj has taken a backseat, while the actor in him will step into the spotlight for the first time.

Even though Lokesh Kanagaraj has had his own share of cameos in movies in the past, Inimel is likely to mark his first serious attempt at performance art.

Meanwhile, the lyrics of Inimel are penned by none other than Kamal Haasan himself. He seems to have used the Gen-Z lingo to write this song, which will be composed and conceptualized by Shruti Haasan.

Of late, Shruti Haasan has been focused on producing independent music in India, besides pursuing her roles in movies. A few months ago, she made quite a splash with her music video Monster Machine, which she wrote, composed, and sang.

The producers are yet to reveal the release date of Inimel.
