Indu: All you need to know about Isha Saha’s Bengali family drama on Hoichoi

Ishaa Saha starrer, thriller series Indu is releasing on Oct.22 on Hoichoi. The first season has eight episodes. After Mouchaak (2021), this will be Sayantan Ghoshal’s second venture with Hoichoi. Here is all the information you need before binging Indu this weekend.

The trailer of Hoichoi original series Indu is finally here. With a gripping story pivoting around a newlywed woman, Indu, promises to offer something different from conventional Bengali TV shows. It is helmed by Sayantan Ghoshal of Mouchaak (2021) fame and written by Sahana Dutta, who has previously worked in Paap (2019) and Hello (2018). Produced by Missing Crew, Indu will premiere on Hoichoi on October 22.

Who are the makers of Indu?

Sayantan Ghoshal has previously directed the Hoichoi series Mouchaak starring Monami Ghosh. Mouchaak created quite a stir among Bengali audiences because of its bold story-telling. While that did rub some people the wrong way; it also received widespreadsupport because of that very fact. Before Mouchaak Ghoshal has directed children’s drama like Jawker Dhan (2017), and adventure dramas like Sagardwipey Jawker Dhan (2019) and Alinagarer Golakdhada (2018).

Sayantan and Sahana Dutta, the writer of Indu, have previously worked together in Mouchaak (2021). Sahana has also written scripts of Mohamaya (2021) and Chuni Panna (2019).

Who will star in Indu?

Indu has an ensemble cast of Isha Saha, Manali De, Manasi Sinha, Chandraniv Mukhopadhyay, Payel De among others. Along with these familiar faces, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay and Judhajit Sarkar will appear in pivotal roles.

Ishaa Saha has recently garnered attention in films like Sweater (2019) Prajapati Biscuit (2017) and most recently Golondaaj (2021). It will be interesting to see her return to the small screen after a long time. In an interview with News18, she expressed her desire to portray dark characters. Hoichoi’s Indu seems to have offered her an opportunity to play a nuanced character with an aura of mystery around her.

What's Indu about?

From the trailer, Indu seems to be a dark tale of a Bengali upper-class family, where everyone is paranoid about everyone else. Indu starts with a marriage ceremony. But the joy and frolic surrounding the wedding soon recede into anxiety and apprehension when a bizarre gift from the groom’s family reaches the bride's house.

Although advised otherwise, the bride (played by Saha) turns a deaf ear to any suggestions of cancelling the marriage. On the contrary, she wants to find out the mystery behind this. As she peels away the layers of her in-laws’ hidden secrets, she is appalled to find out disturbing truths about the family. But, what are the consequences of her desperate probing?

Where and when to watch Indu?

The first episode of Indu is set to premiere on Hoichoi on October 22. It is not yet known whether they will release it periodically or viewers will be able binge the show at one go. Neither have they revealed any further details about the number of episodes or the runtime of each episode. For that, viewers need to wait till its release this week.
