On the show, Sima Taparia had claimed that Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas were not a ‘good match’.
Indian Matchmaking returned for another glamorous new season, which saw Sima Taparia dive headfirst into what she does best- matchmaking. But it seems that the participants on the show are not the only ones who were subject to the expert matchmaker’s scrutiny. After giving her two cents about what she thought of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ pairing, Sima recently opened up about whom she thought were the perfect Bollywood couples.
In conversation with Goodtimes, Sima was asked which Bollywood couple she thought were the perfect match. She responded with “Call me old but I think Hema Malini and Dharmendra are perfect and amongst the youngsters, it’s Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli”. Dharmendra and Hema have been married since 1980, also starring in a number of films together. Anushka and Virat tied the knot in 2017, and have a daughter together.
In an episode of the show’s second season, Sima had said that she did not think Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas were a ‘good match’. Nadia, a client of Sima’s who also appeared in season 1, had mentioned Priyanka and Nick’s relationship when the former became attracted to a man seven years her junior. In response, Sima had asked Nadia to reconsider, saying that the latter should not be older than her partner. The matchmaker had gone on to say that Nick looked very ‘petite’ compared to Priyanka, who is 11 years older than him. Sima also added that even though they were married, she does not feel they are a good match.
The review for the second season of Indian Matchmaking on OTTplay reads “The cattiness is all there, but too many participants seem to spoiling the curry and the storylines seem disjointed, thus making the overall experience underwhelming when compared to season one”. The reality show can be streamed on Netflix.
