The 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024 will kickstart on August 15. A number of guests, including Karan Johar, Nag Aswin, Ram Charan, Nora Fatehi, and others are likely to be present as the guests. Like every year, the festival will showcase Bengali films, including Srijit Mukherji’s Padatik and Suman Ghosh’s Kabuliwala. Here is the lowdown on the full-length feature films and other short films that will be screened at the festival. 

Padatik: 

This feature film is directed by Srijit Mukherji and is based on ace filmmaker Mrinal Sen’s life. Chanchal Chowdhury plays the character of Mrinal Sen, while Monami Ghosh plays Geeta Sen. Korak Samantaplays an important character. The film delves into the intricacies of human relationships and societal expectations.

Kabuliwala:

Kabuliwala is directed by Suman Ghosh. Based on Tagore’s noted short story, the film brings to life the timeless tale of a man from Kabul, portrayed by the legendary Mithun Chakraborty, who forms a touching bond with a young girl. The film also stars Anumegha Kahali, Abir Chatterjee, and Sohini Sarkar, adding layers of emotional depth to this beloved tale.

The Colour Yellow

Short Film The Colour Yellow directed by Modhurima Sinha starring Sauraseni Maitra. In The Colour Yellow, Sauraseni Maitra delivers a poignant performance in a short film that explores themes of love, loss, and the quest for identity through a visually striking and emotionally resonant narrative.
