Indian 2, the highly anticipated Kamal Haasan starrer directed by Shankar is gearing up to hit the theatres on July 12, 2024. The movie, which is a sequel to the 1996-released film Indian, has garnered the attention of cine-goers with the veteran actor’s multiple looks, and its massive star cast. Recently, Kamal Haasan, director Shankar, and actor Siddharth met the media representatives, at the press meet held in Chennai. In his chat with the media, the Ulaganayagan revealed that Indian 2 is a ‘big risk’ that scared the team.
Kamal Haasan says Indian 2 was a ‘big risk’
In his recent chat with the media representatives, Kamal Haasan extensively spoke about making Indian in 1996. According to the veteran actor, it was the most expensive Tamil film of that time and both he and director Shankar were scared about it as it was a big risk. However, in front of Indian 2, the first part seems like a simple film. The Ulaganayagan revealed the second installment is a much bigger film when it comes to the budget and scale, and it is an even ‘bigger’ risk.

Indian 2 gets a thumbs up from censor board
In one of his recent interactions with the media, Kamal Haasan also revealed that the censor board is so happy with Indian 2. According to the legend, director Shankar, who took the film to the censor board to complete formalities, texted him immediately after that, informing him that the officials loved the social thriller. For the uninitiated, the Indian sequel has received a U/A certificate from the censor board and has a duration of 3 hours and 4 seconds.

All about the Indian franchise
The 1996-released blockbuster featured Kamal Haasan in the role of Veerasekharan Senapathy, a freedom fighter, and his son Chandra Bose aka Chandru. Senapathy turns a vigilante who tracks down and kills corrupt public servants but is eventually forced to give the same fate to Chandru. The movie, which is co-written by legendary writer Sujatha, features Nedumudi Venu, Manisha Koirala, Sukanya, Urmila Matondkar, Manorama, Goundamani, Kasthuri, and others in supporting roles.
