Kamal Haasan's fans, who are overwhelmed after the release of Vikram's huge success, have one more reason to rejoice now as the most-awaited Indian 2 is set to go on floors again. There were unconfirmed reports of the team commencing its pending portions soon, and makers have now made it official.

Red Giant Movies, which has bagged the project's distribution rights in Tamil Nadu, announced that the team will begin production from today. Director Shankar expressed his excitement on Twitter, Good morning Indians, we are glad to announce that the remaining shoot for Indian 2 is commencing today (sic)."

Kamal is expected to join the crew in September. The Ulaganayagan tweeted, "Filming for #Indian2 from September. Wishing team @shankarshanmugh, #Subaskaran, @LycaProductions and everyone else involved a successful journey (sic)."

The team also posted a new poster of the film which has Senapathi, the elderly character Kamal played in Indian 2, featuring in it. Kajal Aggarwal, who plays a pivotal role in the sequel, had recently confirmed that she will also join the crew from September, quashing rumours of her quitting the project.

Indian 2 hit the headlines twice for wrong reasons after its shooting began. The film was in the news first when three crew members died on location after a huge crane fell on them. Later, the movie's shooting was stalled owing to a creative difference between Shankar and Lyca Productions.

A few months ago, they had sorted out their differences and agreed to complete the pending portions by the end of this year. Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth and Priya Bhavani Shankar among others essay key roles in the movie which has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
