The movie directed by Nelson dropped on the OTT platform on May 11,
Vijay in Beast
It's been a month since Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast, starring Vijay in the lead, hit the screens across the globe. The hostage thriller opened to mixed response upon release. Vijay's presence, Kiran's art direction, Manoj's cinematography and Anirudh's background score received appreciation, while its screenplay and logic loopholes in it were heavily criticized.
The project produced by Sun Pictures was dropped on Netflix on May 11. Needless to say, fans of Vijay were elated to watch their matinee idol's latest release at their respective homes. Many screengrabs from the film's crucial scenes started doing the rounds ever since the film was released on OTT.
It looks like the mixed response Beast received upon its theatrical release isn't deterring audiences from watching the film. The movie is trending in many countries; in fact, this is the top most viewed film of Netflix currently in some of the Asian countries.
Beast is the only Netflix film to feature in the top 10 list, apart from Gangubai Kathiawadi. The former stands at sixth position while the latter is at ninth position. The Vijay-starrer is the most popular Netflix film in India, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Pakistan, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and United Arab Emirates.
The movie is streaming in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Beast was released in theatres under the same title in Tamil and Telugu, while its Hindi version was titled Raw. Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies presented the movie across Tamil Nadu.
He had confirmed in a recent interaction with a Tamil television channel that Beast was a profitable venture for him. The mixed reviews and gargantuan success of KGF: Chapter 2 which released the next day lead to Beast falling short of expectations at the box office.
