Virat Kohli smashed a magnificent 53-ball 82 not out.
Vintage Virat Kohli took India to a memorable win against Pakistan in their opening game of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
The chase master was in his element as he hit an explosive half-century and almost single-handedly powered India to a stunning four-wicket win over the arch-rivals after they put on a 160-run total.
The 'King' smashed a magnificent 53-ball 82 not out and was helped by all-rounder Hardik Pandya to take India across the line.
Seeing India's heroics got even former Indian cricketers turned commentators at the MCG hyped up.
So much so, Sunil Gavaskar was seen jumping and enjoying the game. Irfan Pathan, on Instagram, shared a video of the same and captioned it, "What scenes here at the MCG. Even the great sunny ji couldn’t stop dancing. Virat you are the real king. indiaaaaa indiaaaaaaaaaa".
Kohli snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat against Pakistan and reminded fans why he is the best in what he does.
India was left in tatters at 31 for 4 and Hardik Pandya came in to help Kohli as he struck 40 off 37 balls in a partnership of 113.
The Men in Blue will next face the Netherlands on October 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
