In the Same Breath: Documentary based on the birth of coronavirus in China

Nanfu Wang (of ‘One Child Nation’ and 'I am Another You’) is back with the upcoming documentary film of how one simple misinformation caused the global pandemic all over the world, that we now call COVID-19.

In the Same Breath

In The Same Breath, the trailer is currently streaming and is helmed by HBO. The film talks about how one simple misinformation by the Government of China on the initial spread of the virus, took a toll on the entire world, which we are still going through. The doc-film features emotional video records taken from medical professionals that include from China and the USA, along with patient’s family members, lost ones’ grieving families that recount their incidents when the tragedy first struck. It also provides illustrative footage of revelation from Wuhan and the US. Additionally, it also talks about how people should be in this together and fight the pandemic and stand united.

In the Same Breath recounts incidents from Wuhan, when coronavirus slowly spread amongst people and the Government’s misinformation that when saying that it the ‘situation was in control’ or when they said about “having no evidence of human-to-human transmission”. This led to the lack of exercising caution and subsequently ended in a global pandemic. It also includes initial footage of people dying on the streets and the anxiety of medical professionals about the intakes they were getting in a day. The film contains videos of medics recounting their experience from when they initially raised their concerns on the severity of the virus but were ridiculed for causing unnecessary fear and spreading ‘rumours’. It talks about the overwhelm of people who didn’t know what to do during those trying times.

The documentary film will be streaming on HBO Max from August 18, 2021.
