Dhanush has officially unveiled the title and poster of the Ilaiyaraaja biopic. Check out what the Tamil actor feels about essaying the role of the musical legend
An eagerly awaited update on Dhanush’s upcoming film is here! The official title announcement and poster for legendary musician Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic have been revealed. Titled ‘Ilaiyaraaja’, the biopic of the maestro has Dhanush playing the musical genius. The poster features a young man holding a harmonium. Although the person’s face is not shown in the poster, in the background, one gets to see a picturesque old Madras. The title card features the tagline, ‘The King of Music’. Overall, the new poster evokes nostalgia and audiences will be shown the untold beginnings of the musical legend.
Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the biographical film is about the journey of musical genius and Tamil Nadu’s pride, Ilaiyaraja, right from the early days of his career. The movie will cover the music composer’s journey, which spans over 50 years. The legendary musician has composed around 7,000 melodious pieces in several languages. Fans who have been waiting for the poster's release now simply cannot wait to watch the legend’s life story unfold on the big screen.

At the poster launch event that was held at the Leela Palace in Chennai earlier today (March 20), leading man Danush expressed his gratitude for working in "Raaja sir’s" biopic. The actor, who has been an ardent fan of the Isaignani (as Ilaiyaraaja is fondly called), said that he was thankful to the makers for this opportunity.

During his speech, the actor revealed his admiration for the composer and how he had dreamed of working on not just Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic but also superstar Rajinikanth’s. “I have always dreamed of playing Ilaiyaraaja sir in a movie. In my acting career, I have wished to play two legends on the big screen: one as Raaja sir and the other as superstar Rajinikanth. One is becoming a reality and I am honoured to do this film,” Dhanush said.
