Ila Veezha Poonchira marks scriptwriter Shahi Kabir’s first stint in the director’s chair. The film, starring Soubin Shahir, unveiled its first look poster recently.
Set against the picturesque titular hill station in Kerala’s Kottayam district, the first look poster shows Soubin Shahir as a cop in the Ilaveezha Poonchira police station. With darkened skies and a windmill in the background, the atmospheric poster definitely hints at a film that promises to give more than a few glimpses into the magnificence of Ilaveezha Poonchira.

The upcoming film will mark Shahi Kabir’s directorial debut. The filmmaker has penned scripts for films such as Joju George’s Joseph. Shahi had recently won an award for best screenplay for Nayattu at the 52nd Kerala State Film Awards.
Ila Veezha Poonchira is bankrolled by Vishnu Venu under the banner of Kathas Untold. Plan T Films’ Anwar Rasheed is also a producer on the film as well. Manesh Madhavan, who had earlier collaborated with Shahi on Joseph, has handled the forthcoming film’s cinematography. Nidhish G and Shaji Maarad have penned the script of the film. The film had gone on floors last year.
In addition to Soubin Shahir, the upcoming film will also feature Sudhy Koppa and Jude Anthany Joseph in pivotal roles. Soubin was last seen in the Santosh Sivan helmed sci-fi flick Jack N’ Jill, which also starred Manju Warrier. The film, which was released on May 20, will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical run. Soubin’s upcoming releases include Sidharth Bharathan’s Djinn.
