Ila Arun, who performed the original version of Choli Ke Peeche had her vocals return to the new version that the makers of Crew just released. However, the veteran singer is not pleased with the outcome. The seasoned vocalist revealed in a recent interview that the record label created the new version without consulting her or even informing her beforehand. She confessed that they didn't inform her until five minutes before the release of the new song. She is "dumbfounded" by the whole thing and thinks it's "ethically wrong" to recreate music.

Ila Arun's displeasure with the recreation of Choli Ke Peeche

Ila expressed her strong bond with the music label Tips in an interview with India Today, saying that even if they had contacted her before, she would have been unable to say no, but morally, it's wrong. If only they had discussed it with her, she would have felt better. Ila mentioned that they only informed her about the recreation five minutes before the song's launch, asking for her approval. The singer asked that, aside from bestowing her blessings, what other choice did she have? She was astounded, although she refrained from inquiring as to their motivation for this action. Thus, her response to the music is identical to Alka Yagnik's.

The song's composers, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, lyric writer Anand Bakshi, and performers Madhuri Dixit and Neena Gupta were all lauded by Ila, who referred to the song as "iconic" and questioned the necessity of recreations, even though companies believe they attract a younger audience. Trying to connect with the youth of today is supposedly a novel concept. She doesn't see why, though; she feels that way. Ila added that one is under no obligation to provide them with what they want. Inventing their own number seems like the obvious choice. According to her, new filmmakers should write dynamic, upbeat tunes that appeal to the youth of today.

Personal distress and avoidance of controversy

Although everyone is admiring her, Ila is genuinely distressed by the entire event, and she wants to avoid making any controversy by saying this. She further shared, "The fact is that everyone is complimenting me for rocking, but am I not rocking?" This has really rattled her. The singer added, "Even the younger generation is calling me and telling me that my song has been recreated and Kareena Kapoor Khan is dancing to the number, but what can I do about that? I can only say I am dumfounded."

Ila, following in the footsteps of many other musicians, believes that one should keep the original artists informed and share any benefits that the new version of the song may have. Her view is that if one is going to replicate anything, it's best to collaborate with the original artists and keep them informed. She added that they should also get compensation for it if one is making any profit.

Not only Choli Ke Peeche Ila's iconic single Ghagra, also features in Crew.
