Animal dominated IIFA 2024 with nine wins, while Shah Rukh Khan triumphed as Best Actor.
Two months after the 24th India Film Academy Awards (IIFA 2024) took place in Abu Dhabi, the award ceremony has made its way to OTT. Yes, ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium) is currently streaming the mega event, which Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Vicky Kaushal hosted. Bollywood's star-studded lineup ensured the audience's thorough entertainment at the event. Various categories bestowed accolades upon the performers.
Animal had the highest number of nominations, with twelve. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani came in second with ten, Jawan eighth, Pathaan sixth, and 12th Fail fifth. Animal became the most-awarded film of the ceremony with nine wins, including Best Film and Best Supporting Actor (for Anil Kapoor).
Moreover, Hema Malini received an award for outstanding achievement in Indian cinema. On the other hand, Jayantilal Gada received special recognition for his work in Indian cinema. Last but not least, Karan Johar received an award for his success in reaching the 25-year milestone in the film industry.
SRK, who hosted the event, also took home the Best Actor Award for his performance in Jawan. In his winning speech, the superstar thanked the fellow nominees in the category, stating that the other nominees, including Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Deol, as well as Ranbir Kapoor and Vikrant Massey, were fantastic in the film, and he would want to thank them all. All the nominees, in Shah Rukh's opinion, were fantastic, but his return to work after a long break gave him an advantage.
He went on to say that someone brought it to his attention that a film requires financial investment; thus he thanked his wife, Gauri Khan. The superstar quipped that maybe she's the only woman in the world who actually gives her husband more money than he gives her. Moreover, SRK opened up about the personal low he experienced following his son Aryan Khan's arrest in 2021. He shared that while working on Jawan, they encountered some difficulties.
Fans choose the winners by voting online for their favourite stars in the Indian Hindi cinema industry. Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. produces the event.
