Playback singer Anju Joseph to play a supporting role in Sunil Ibrahim’s upcoming thriller Roy
Popular singer Anju Joseph who entered the showbiz through music reality shows had won the hearts of Malayalis with her singing talent. And, now she is all set to show her acting skills with her debut in Sunil Ibrahim’s upcoming thriller Roy where she will play an important supporting role. The film also features Suraj Venjaramoodu and Sija Rose in pivotal roles. She will play the role of a Youtuber in the movie. Being a vlogger in real life should help her do the part effortlessly.
In an interview with Times Of India, the actor said that she landed on the role accidentally. “Sunil ikka’s associate Bipin chettan is a friend of mine. Once, he called me and asked, ‘There is a film coming up, will you act?’ And I replied in jest, ‘why not?!’ She actually didn’t realise how serious he was until he called her later on and finalised the schedules. She is also expected to be seen in Aishwarya Lekshmi-starrer flick Archana 31 Not Out. The singer and vlogger will essay the role of a teacher, a friend of Aishwarya Lekshmi’s character in the movie.
Anju kicked off her career as a playback singer with the Malayalam film Doctor Love in 2011. She was one of the contestants in Asianet Idea Star Singer Season 4 and bagged the third runner up position in the competition. Anju also sang for movies like Alamara Avarude Raavukal, Ormakalil Oru Manjukaalam, C/O Saira Banu. She released a cappella version of the famous song Dheewara from the movie Baahubali which was appreciated by many famous film personalities and movie fans.
