‘I miss you every day,’ Sanjay Dutt writes a heartfelt note on his mother Nargis Dutt’s 41st death anniversary

Nargis Dutt is widely recognised as one of the best actresses in the history of Indian cinema. Following a lengthy struggle with pancreatic cancer, she died on May 3, 1981.

Sanjay Dutt and his sisters Priya and Namrata Dutt remember their mother-veteran star Nargis Dutt on her 41st death anniversary. The Bollywood actor took to social media and wrote a heartfelt note. Meanwhile, Namrata recounted how her mother fought cancer bravely and how her father Sunil Dutt stood with her to the end.

Namrata described her family's temporary relocation to the United States during Nargis' treatment in an article by Pinkvilla. "Dad was with her from morning to night, every day." He'd feed her and clean her. We sisters would also take turns caring for her. "I'm sure he sobbed in private, but Dad never told us what he was going through," she said.

Namrata also mentioned a little incident involving her mother when she was through chemotherapy. Her mother Nargis couldn't believe she was looking at herself in the mirror while getting ready to go shopping. After several months of chemotherapy, her skin had gone dark she had lost hair. Nargis couldn't believe she was looking at herself.

Priya and Sanjay Dutt took to Instagram to remember their mother Nargis and wrote a heartfelt message.

Sanjay Dutt turned to social media to remember his mother, posting a collage of his mother's photos and writing, "not a single minute goes by that I don't remember you. I miss you everyday.”

Nargis Dutt died on May 3, 1981, as a result of a urinary infection. The actor has had a fear of fire ever since the mishap on the set of Mother India. Nargis was buried in her wedding dress which was a red and green saree–as she had requested.

Sanjay Dutt was going to make his Bollywood debut at the moment. While, at the premiere of Rocky on May 7, 1981, a chair was left empty between Sunil Dutt and Sanjay as a gesture of respect for Nargis.

Nargis began her acting career with Tamanna (1942) and went on to appear in several films, including Barsaat (1949), Shree 420 (1955), Mother India (1957), Adalat and Lajwanti (1958), and Raat Aur Din (1967). In 1958, she married Sunil Dutt and had three children: Sanjay Dutt, Priya Dutt, and Namrata.

Sanjay Dutt recently appeared in the movie KGF Chapter 2, which was a box office smash.
