The former TV host and actress debuts as filmmaker with the Nirup Bhandari, Amrutha Iyengar and Sanjana Anand starrer on July 1.
One of the two Kannada film releases tomorrow is Window Seat, which marks the directorial debut of Sheetal Shetty, former TV host and actress. The film, which has Nirup Bhandari, Amrutha Iyengar and Sanjana Anand in the lead, has been produced by Manjunath Gowda for Shalini Artss. Ahead of the official theatrical outing, Sheetal has been showing the film to friends and well-wishers in the industry, one of who is Rakshit Shetty.
Speaking to the media after watching Window Seat, Rakshit said, “I had seen Window Seat two years ago too, in the editing suite, when Sheetal was working on it and I had liked it back then itself. In fact, I’d always felt that there was a director in Sheetal, after seeing the short films she’s made. Some filmmakers have a knack of showing just how good they are as story-tellers. I sensed that in her. The way she had shot her short films, I knew she’d make a good feature film director too. I am very happy that her debut film is releasing in theatres now. This is a film that has to be seen on the big screen. Sheetal is a very good addition to the flock of directors in our industries, especially in bringing the female perspective to story-telling. She is someone who can bring that to our industry. But that apart, Sheetal always had an affinity towards offbeat subjects and I am not surprised that she has chosen a story like this for her debut.”
Rakshit added that Window Seat will be Nirup’s career best to date. He looks amazing on screen. Special mention to Rekha, who has played a cop in the film. After seeing her in this film, I started wondering if I can write a character for her in my projects.
