Sid Sriram
Sid Sriram has been singing playback for Tamil and Telugu cinema since 2013 and is a very popular name in those industries, yet, it is only now that the rest of the country appears to be waking up to his amazing vocal talent. Sid, who has been singing one off songs in Malayalam, was discovered by the Kannada film industry in 2021, giving him five back-to-back numbers in films like Tom & Jerry, Bhajarangi 2, Sakath, Love You Rachchu and Love 360. And he is now set to make his Hindi playback debut with the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund , which he says is the best launchpad for him in Bollywood.
Taking to social media, Sid wrote about the two songs he has sung, composed by music duo Ajay-Atul and written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. “My first ever Hindi songs for a Hindi film are out now! I’ve sung Laat Maar and Baadal Se Dosti from the film #Jhund. This film features the legend @amitabhbachchan sir, directed by the incredible @nagraj_manjule. Music directors for the film are @ajayatulofficial. They are amazing musicians, amazing people and very warm; recording these songs was super exhilarating. Lyrics amazingly penned by @amitabhbhattacharyaofficial. Laat Maar also features @saurabhabhyankar100rbh. I couldn’t have asked for a better debut in Hindi cinema, can’t wait for y’all to experience these two songs. All love, no hate forever,” he wrote, along with a video message about the experience.
Sid, who most recently sang the Srivalli song from Pushpa: The Rise and Kalaavathi from the Mahesh Babu starrer Sarkaru Vaari Paata, also has songs in most of the upcoming big-ticket films, like Valimai, Radhe Shyam, etc. and has been working with all the leading composers in the south. And with him making baby steps in Hindi cinema now, it would not be wrong to say that Sid is well and truly the flavour of the season.
