I Am Kathalan on OTT: Can fans watch Premalu duo's cyber thriller in Telugu?

Months after Premalu’s release, Girish AD was back with another film I Am Kathalan, which also had Naslen in the lead. I Am Kathalan is now set for its OTT release, but will it be available in Telugu?

Girish AD’s Premalu, starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, was instantly liked for its witty dialogues and endearing characters. However, the surprising factor was that the Malayalam film found much love even in Telugu states as well with none other than SS Rajamouli praising Premalu. The film was also dubbed in Telugu and released in those states.

I Am Kathalan to stream in Telugu?

After the breezy rom-com Premalu, Girish AD ventured into the cyber-thriller space with I Am Kathalan. The film, starring Naslen in the lead, however, failed to recreate the success of Premalu. Now, the film is set for its OTT premiere on Manorama Max and you can also watch it on OTTplay Premium. However, it is bad news for Telugu fans as the Premalu duo's cyber-thriller will not be available in the Telugu language on Manorama Max, which is primarily a Malayalam streaming platform.

But there’s hope as I Am Kathalan could be eventually dubbed and released on Telugu platforms such as aha or ETV Win. Aha, especially, has been purchasing the rights of Malayalam films and has been making them available on the OTT platform.

Fahadh Faasil-starrer Malik, Dhoomam and Athiran have been dubbed in Telugu and are available on Aha. Tovino Thomas’ Naradan, Bhargavi Nilayam and Forensic are also available, albeit in the Telugu-dubbed versions. However, these movies did not immediately find a place on aha, and have taken a good eight months to 1 year before streaming on the platform in Telugu.

I Am Kathalan

For the unversed, I Am Kathalan is a cyber-thriller that follows Vishnu as he decides to exact revenge on his girlfriend’s father by hacking into his company’s software. The Naslen-starrer is fairly engaging and deserves a one-time watch.

Apart from Naslen, the film also stars Anishma Anilkumar, Lijomol Jose, and Dileesh Pothan in key roles along with Vineeth Vasudevan and Sajin Cherukayil.

I Am Kathalan will be available for streaming on Manorama Max in Malayalam with English subtitles from January 17, 2025.
