The film directed by Mahesh Surapaneni was the Telugu remake of the Malayalam hit Mumbai Police that released in theatres on January 26
The theatrical runs of films are only getting briefer year after year but for rare exceptions. While it was quite a phenomenon for a film to arrive on OTT within a month after its release a few years ago, it no longer surprises us to see films landing on a streamer merely two weeks post its big-screen run. Hunt, Sudheer Babu’s cop drama, that released on January 26, is coming to OTT this weekend.
Much like popular films 18 Pages and the recent Mukhachitram, Hunt is releasing on two major OTT platforms simultaneously on February 10. aha and Amazon Prime Video have acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the drama. Srikanth, Bharath, Chitra Shukla too essay important roles in the film directed by Mahesh Surapaneni, who’d helmed Nara Rohith’s Kathalo Rajakumari earlier.
The film revolves around a cop Arjun, who meets with an accident while solving a high profile case involving his good friend and colleague Aryan Dev. However, after the accident, Arjun has little clue about his past but still needs to unlock the mystery surrounding the killer. His friend Mohan Bhargav stands by his side through thick and thin. However, the path for Arjun isn’t quite rosy ahead.
Ghibran had composed the music for Hunt, which had only one song Pailam, a party number. Hunt is the official Telugu remake of Prithviraj’s super hit psychological drama Mumbai Police (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar). The film was produced by V Ananda Prasad under the popular banner Bhavya Creations. Mounika Reddy, Mime Gopi, Kabir Duhan Singh, Goparaju Ramana, Manjula form the supporting cast.
With cinematography by Arul Vincent, the film was edited by Prawin Pudi. Vivek Annamalai worked on the production design. Hunt received mixed reviews upon release but there are good chances for it to work with streaming enthusiasts, given its premise.
