Human trailer: Shefali Shah-Kirti Kulhari turn doctors and unravel unexpected secrets of the world of medicines

The series also features Vishal Jethwa and will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from January 14, 2022.

The trailer for Hotstar Specials' Human is finally out. The series is a suspense thriller that reveals unexpected secrets about the world of medicine and its impact on people through a gripping story of murder, mystery, lust, and manipulation. Human features an all-star cast led by National Award winner Shefali Shah and versatile actor Kirti Kulhari, as well as Vishal Jethwa, Ram Kapoor, Seema Biswas, Aditya Srivastava, and Mohan Agashe.

In a gripping story involving innocent lives lost to greed, the fictional series enunciates the collateral damage caused by accelerated drug trials for financial gain. Human brings forth the greed to make money in a compelling tale of power struggles, secretive pasts, trauma, and murders, touching on compelling themes such as the value of human life, medical malpractice, class divides, and the ramifications of fast-paced medical science.

In Human despite lethal side effects, a pharmaceutical behemoth is using India's lax clinical trial rules to accelerate the development of a new drug. Meanwhile, Dr. Saira Sabharwal (Kirti Kulhari) lands a dream job at Bhopal's premier hospital under the tutelage of the legendary Dr. Gauri Nath (Shefali Shah). Saira matures under Gauri's tutelage, and the two women form a strong bond over their dedication to the medical cause. A shocking discovery, however, throws their lives into disarray as their story becomes intertwined with that of a young migrant worker, Mangu (Vishal Jethwa), who is poised to wreak havoc on the medical system.

In a statement, Shefali spoke about Human saying that the series is extremely relevant and relatable in today's time. The actor shared that she couldn't help but imagine our current scenario, a world of hospitals and vaccine trials, as she read the script. Shefali said that it calls into question humanity and everything that happens to preserve it. Talking about her character, the talented actor revealed that Gauri Nath is a name one doesn't often come across and called it one of the most difficult characters she's ever played, completely outside of her comfort zone. Shefali described the character as unpredictable and difficult to understand.

About Human she said the series is Pandora's box of emotions, actions, and outcomes, and she assures us that viewers have no idea what hit them from its dark depths of complexities.

While Kirti said it has been an absolute honour and thrill to play Dr. Saira Sabharwal, it's her first time on screen as a doctor. She called Human a layered and complex story that drew her in right away. Also, the fact that Shefali Shah would be on the same show as her piqued her interest. Kirti revealed that Shefali is someone she really admires and has always admired her work as an actor, so she was thrilled to share screen time with her.

To get into her character, Kirti got into the minds and worlds of doctors by speaking with various people and understanding various aspects of how they function both in and out of the workplace.

The Disney+ Hotstar Specials series is written by Mozez Singh and Ishani Banerjee and directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Mozez Singh. It is set to stream on January 14, 2022.
