The film’s writer Mudassar Aziz was also there when the two women were conversing, and the former suggested that the trio make a film about the subject. Huma spoke of how a certain body type has been projected as the standard of perfection in society. The actress talked about the adverse consequences of such toxic standards,w hich led to an increase in bullying and unhealthy lifestyle choices.
The actress went on to say that the people in show business had the responsibility of doing better and not convince young people that their worth lay in how they looked. Adding that negating a person’s personality this way is akin to devaluing them as a person, Huma said that through the film, they wanted to give out the message that every body type is beautiful and is worthy of being celebrated and empowered.
On her own experiences with body shaming, Huma recalled how she felt devastated by a review of one of ehr earlier films, in which a critic referred to her as “five kilos too heavy to be a mainstream leading lady”. She reveals that she and Sonakshi channeled their insecurities while playing their parts in Double XL.
