Huma Qureshi on Tarla: A lot of people asked me why I was playing an elderly woman

Critics and audiences alike have been praising Huma Qureshi's latest film, Tarla, which is based on the life of chef and cookbook author Tarla Dalal. Thrilled with the reception for their film, producer duo Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari have commented on the audience's response to Tarla.

Ashwiny said, "We are immensely happy and filled with gratitude for the response for this beautiful movie, which has been directed by the very talented Piyush Gupta. We believe in the idea of telling impactful stories that touch hearts from different voices and are hopeful to continue to tell stories with like-minded partners."

Nitesh and Ashwiny are also producing Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's film Bawaal, which will release on Amazon Prime Video on July 21.

In a recent interview with Mojo Story, Huma said of the film, "I did this film for my mom. I feel that my mom is extremely talented, but she gave up a lot for her family. I saw her go through a midlife crisis where she didn't know what to do with her life. She felt an emptiness. I made the film for her because I felt Tarla Dalal was also going through that. After I signed the film, a lot of people asked me why I was playing an elderly woman. But for me, it was a great part."

Tarla also stars Sharib Hashmi. It is written by Piyush Gupta and Gautam Vaid, and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, along with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari. It is available to stream on ZEE5.
