Housefull 5: Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh to have a fun ride set against backdrop of a cruise? Here's everything you should know
Akshay Kumar is currently preparing for the release of his upcoming film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, but there's another film that is keeping the audience excited. Akshay Kumar is a part of the 5th film in his much-famous franchise Housefull. The movie also stars Ritesh Deshmukh. Although there has been nothing official said till now, a report reveals that this time the comedy-drama will unfold against the backdrop of a cruise ship.
The little birdie told to Bollywood Hungama that the film is going to be set against the backdrop of a cruise ship. As per the insider, “The common factor in all Housefull films is that a bunch of madcap characters get together in a house, leading to madness. That’s why the name Housefull, as the house is full of these funny characters. With Housefull 5, it seems like the makers are taking the madness level many notches higher by setting the story on a ship. And one can’t leave the ship as it’s presumably in the sea. Hence, these characters will have no choice but to face each other, causing confusion and lots of entertainment.”
The insider also said, “The ship is also a very interesting structure. It increases the scope for comedy if its aspects are correctly used.”

To note, after a run at theaters, Houseful 5 will exclusively premiere on Prime videos. The film will hit theaters on June 6. Backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the movie is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Till now the team has unveiled only two names from the film's cast: Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.
Housefull is a comedy film series. The series stars Akshay Kumar and Ritesh Deshmukh in all the films. The first two films, Housefull and Housefull 2, were directed by Sajid Khan. The third film, Housefull 3, was directed by Sajid-Farhad, and the fourth film was made under the direction of Farhad Samji.
The franchise has been receiving good response from the audience. If reports are to be believed, then the franchise has managed to earn overall Rs 800 crores worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing comedy franchise in Indian cinema.
