House of the Dragon shoot halted due to Covid-19 positive cases

The shooting of the House of the Dragon was temporarily called off with a unit member getting affected with Covid-19. The production of the HBO show that’s a prequel to the popular fantasy series Game of Thrones has been halted for two days. The show is being shot in the UK and the shoot is set to resume on Wednesday.

Deadline reported that the shoot got halted for two days after a Covid-19 positive case was found in zone A, which has both cast and crew. House of the Dragon is based on Fire & Blood by RR Martin and will revolve around House Targaryen. As per HBO, the series will start ‘300 years before the events of Game of Thrones”, focusing on the story of House Targaryen that gave the well-loved character Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons. Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Matt Smith, Steve Toussaint, and Sonoya Mizuno will star in the show. The filming locations were kept mostly under wraps, but the series is being shot across Portugal and Spain. The show is partially shot in Monsanto in Spain, also known as the 'City of Stones’.

The new cast includes Milly Alcock as the younger self of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Emily Carey as Alicent Hightower. Rhaenyra Targaryen is the firstborn daughter of the king and Alicent Hightower is the ‘child of Otto Hightower, the King’s hand, and the most lovely girl in the seven kingdoms.’

R.R. Martin, Vince Gerardis, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik are the executive producers of the show. Ramin Djawadi, the brain behind the award-winning theme for the Game of Thrones prequel series, will also compose a theme for House of The Dragon. The first episode of House of
