House of Gucci is based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed written by Sara Gay Forden. Set in 1995, the film revolves around the story of Patrizia Reggiani and her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci. Reggiani was convicted of arranging an assassin to kill her ex-husband.The latter had served as the head of the prominent Italian fashion brand Gucci. The film follows Reggiani as she lets ambition get the better of her, and attempts to wield as much power as she can, through her husband, in the famed company. But her efforts soon bring about chaos, and she is forced to take drastic measures.
